it's the same thing as those goddamn reality shows
nothing about anything matters anymore as long as there's drama
it doesn't even matter what it's about, as long as there's people angry at eachother for whatever reason
i don't know what it says about human nature when we're so in love with conflict that we dedicate hours of programming to such glorification of agression and feign shock when it occurs

Such a good point.. if they mention some tiff that happened during the recording.. then they'll get that tiff shoved in their faces for the next 5 years, instead of forgetting it and moving on.

Anybody who's had friends for more that 6-7 years should appreciate this.

Well, the interviewer should have realized that he hit a hotbutton issue with Yorke and changed his line of questioning. Yeah you want to get as much info as possible but he could have tried to evoke an actual answer by asking something like "You seem upset by that question, may I ask why?" Instead he kept trying to get him to answer the original question. Bah, poor journalism.

Yeah I agree that this attitude is poor journalism, but the interview as a whole is well questioned and is actually quite good other than this bit of conflict.

I would have to say the problem is mistaking musicians as just celebrities, which seems to warrant the an assumption that we are entitled to know every rumour about, instead of actual artists who should be questioned about the motives and emotions behind their work, not their public/private persona.

The problem plain in this interview stems from this mistake which seems prominent as the general attitude in this type of journalism.
