Surprised he was even able to take off with those huge balls...

What's really impressive is the next fourteen seconds of missing footage where the pilot levitates out of the cockpit and gently floats to the ground, and then reveals himself as David Blaine.

remember when all movies were faked and it was still thrilling?

i thought this was just fucking perfect. a little too much of the fake "losing focus" shit, but anyway, genius.

and i also like the way it totally fails as a viral unless you already know the logo. lol.

The thing is there is no reason a plane like that wouldn't be able to safely land with one wing. It would be really hard to stabilize but should be possible.
-Karl

How would that be possible? Would the other wing caused it to have too much lift and then just turn into a death spiral?

this is real, I know a guy who knows someone who read directly about someone who was there

That video has even fooled some good pilots. Apart from the obvious fakery of the landing, right after the wing allegedly comes off, the plane starts spiraling on the down line. The thing is that it's turning into the remaining wing. That's aerodynamically impossible, and I'm not talking about "the engineers say a bumble-bee can't fly" type of impossible, there is no way for it to happen.

It is in fact possible to land this plane with one wing. The remaining wing is not providing lift in a vertical position, and the fuselage becomes the lifting force. Much like a pilot can slow a airplane by throwing it sideways to use the fuselage as a braking force. With a powerful enough engine which this plane would have, it could provide the lift, but timing the flip to land would be the most difficult part.
