Upvote for awfulness on so many levels, people should watch it as an educational tool. Utterly unconvincing as a "down to earth" attempt, stupid as a woman's strength song and just plain sexist against women. Hey Aguilera, are you wearing those shorts because they are comfy? Right, not use your sex appeal to sell a few more songs, no. And what's the deal with treating yourself as a minority? Gender is split 50-50, so why are you referring to men's stereotyped* attitudes as if they were universal? Anyway, if our "words don't mean a thing", why did you do a song about it?

* If a guy as 3 girls then he's the man? Really? I'd consider that guy to be a sleazy bastard.

No wonder I haven't heard of Lil Kim for years, she bet her fame on this shit.

Would you all feel the same way if you just heard the song without the video? I grew up listening to music back when all I knew about a band or singer was what I read or saw on the album sleeve. MTV really changed my perception of different artists, even some of my favorites. I didn't, and still don't really like music videos that sorta take the interpretation of the music away from a listener. It seems that when I hear music nowadays for which I've seen a video, I'm reminded of the video instead of just being able to listen to the music with my own notion of its' "meaning".

Anyway, this video is really bad, but I think the music is ok. For me, it kinda sucks that a woman with such an incredible voice wastes it on this kind of music. I know, some will have the exact opposite opinion. Just not my type of music, I guess.

Ah more mixed messages from the hip-hop community. This is why I listen to trance. Just give me a God damned beat to dance to and shut the hell up. At least this song has a fairly positive message to it, but when played back to back with My Humps, it all just seems hypocritical.

Fletch -- you say she has a great voice, but do you know how much of that voice is "natural"? After all, big studios have all kinds of equipment/software that can correct pitch, give the voice an unusual timbre, etc.

As far as the songs' message goes, it's not the men that give "slut" such negative connotation, it's the women. You see, in our society, women control access to sex, and derive a lot of benefit from that control. But when some women put out too easily, that lowers the "price" for the rest of them, so the rest hates "sluts" for the same reason Microsoft hates Open Source

If it were up to guys, "slut" would probably be a compliment, as in "before I talked to you, I thought you were uptight, but now it looks like you are a real slut!"

She actually does have a great powerful projection voice but she uses for tat like this, I mean look at what Whitney is putting out now. Same with with Mariah Carey for a while.

yaroslvvb: I'm not going just off this video. Although I'm sure the studio can do wonders for mediocre singers, there is no doubt (in my mind) she has a great voice.

Farhad: Haven't heard anything new from Whitney yet, but Mariah used to blow me away. Her voice may not be what it used to be, but she now seems to sing a lot of nasally, whispery, Janet Jackson-like stuff. It's boring and disappointing.
