In Allen Gardens park in Toronto, lots of people smoke crack from pop cans, and squirrels go eat from the cans after because they're still sweet with pop. Then they get hooked on crack, and go nuts looking for another hit, and start attacking anybody with a pop can because they think it has crack in it.
At Niargra falls the squirrels are so use to being hand fed that they hang from tree trunks and swipe at tourists / tourist food. They often hang around hot dog carts and wait for people to leave. I had one jump onto my backpack and attempt to take my sweet sweet pizza hot dog away from me.
On the rez kids used to collect beer cans and dump out whatever drops were left into a bowl and then have the dogs drink it. It was funny seeing the pups get drunk
