WOW!!! Obviously a kid who gets everything he wants. He's like a real life Eric Cartman. "Hey mom you get in the kitchen and make me some chocolate milk!"

Wow, I'm totally convinced to never get a 360, or at least to never get Live.

If that was my son, I'd flip the breaker to the room he was in, then beat to within an inch of his life.

This mother ought to be ashamed of herself!!! Oh to have 30 min w/ this mom and son. She needs as much straightening out as her son does.
We just bought a 360 and a Wii recently. (the Wii was my Mother's Day present )
It doesn't matter how much they cost either, I would, with joy, march my kids out to the driveway and have them smash the players with hammers if they ever spoke to ANYONE that way.. Who let's their small child alone on xbox live anyway??? We have let our kid play, but noooo sound, good grief!
That child needs some kiddie boot camp, stat.

This is what happens in modern day society. Back in my day, if we behaved like this, we got the belt. (Nothing damaging, of course, but it hurt like the dickens.) Nowadays if a child misbehaves they get sent to "time out." Bah on time outs. Wail the tar out of em, I say.

And for the most part, I'm not really joking. Parents nowadays are too lax on discipline. They try to treat kids like adults, but you can't really do that. Kids haven't learned and had the experiences to develop a logical thought process. Their thoughts follow a simpler logic, and proper discipline reinforces right and wrong. Call it brainwashing if you like, but would you prefer the alternative?

On a similar note, too much discipline is not the answer either. That just results in the child rebelling, most likely later in life, such as their teens, and then they're even worse than they were when they were young.

I'm not a parent yet myself, and I can only hope that when I become one I'm able to find the proper balance when raising my own children.

You know, my parents were big on spanking when I was a kid, and I turned out pretty good. On the other hand, my aunt and uncle never spanked and their kids are great, too. I suppose every child is different, but I think it's largely in part of how much time families are spending together anymore. If it's one thing that seperates my family from my aunt, uncle and cousins, its that we spend far less time together than they do.

If the mother can't take the time to read the God damned rating symbol on the CD case and NOT buy a game that's too mature for him, then she clearly can't be bothered to discipline her child.

Meh, I don't buy into the whole violent game = violent children thing. When I was five, I was playing Doom 1 and 2 and Wolfenstein 3D on a regular basis. Those games were thought to be extremely violent at the time. Of course, one could argue that they're nothing compared to this. All I know is that I've grown up killing countless virtual people, and I couldn't be more peaceful. Hell, I don't even like to watch football. Every kid's different.

Sketch I appreciate what you're saying, but it's all about individual children and minding the individual needs of that child. I have a daughter that is influenced by everyone and everything that's said to her, on the other hand..my younger son show's wisdom beyond his years. He's played Halo, and whoops his daddy often playing one on one...but he weeps seeing a lost puppy or if his sister is hurt.
My daughter will watch an evening of Nick and will mimic anything that catches her fancy..good or not.
Obviously the mother of the son on this sift has bigger problems than a user rating on a video game.

It's the zooming in on the character's face that makes this for me.

Sad - kid has no mother, just an inferior servant that is insurbordinant for not getting the choc milk. Is he happy? What is his world about? What will his life be about when he is a teen and older? His first awakening will most probably be when he gets slapped down by staff in Juvihall. Whose fault?
