Democracy Now producer films her own RNC arrest
She'll get a fair trial and the judge will see this video. My guess is she'll be acquitted. She probably should have simply turned around and walked away when the police started yelling to get out of the way.
People tend to ask for the police to explain their (the police's) orders before they obey them. You should do what they say, and ask questions later.
Getting arrested for not immediately heading the commands of a police officer doesn't make you a hero.
By the time you have laid down and done what they wanted it's too late. You might turn around later and say what they asked you to do was wrong - but nothing would come from it... no one is going to reprimand the officer for what they did even if it was wrong.
The problem isn't the person, who has every right to ask questions, the problem is the officer who was not listening and too pumped to stop what he was doing to think for one second.
Not all, but definitely some police officers will abuse their power (it's human nature when you are given a uniform and these rights to tell people what to do) as in most cases the offending officers do not have to face up to what they have done. Possibly suspended from service for a week or so then they're back - maybe working in a different department.
Ron Paul: I'm Being Shut Out Of The GOP Convention
> but when we need more teachers or a better healthcare system, they bitch and moan about 'big government', and we buy into it.
well, don't be stupid enough to buy into it...
The reason you find this need to beg the government for more teachers and bad health care is because you put it into the hands of a small group of incompetent people who have no incentives to make it better.
