McCain Can't Recall Iran-Contra
Wow.

Undoubtedly, no one in the press will pick this up or follow-through.

In his book, 1984, George Orwell said "He who controls the past controls the future." Well, that applies if no one but a YouTube member bothers to do a little digging.

TF2: Meet the Red Team
Yes, these Machinima productions are getting better but the video description ("better yet, no bad voiceovers") reveals one of it's weaknesses. For these kinds of productions to take the next step, they're going to have to find a way of adding GOOD voiceovers & dialogue, because these are tried and true storytelling tools.

For instance, that bit in the basement where a medic-heavy duo convince the entire Blue team to retreat was weird at best. If you're going to task your audience to suspend that kind of disbelief, then you're going to need more than stock voice commands.

I mean, this is a nice post-production exercise: to be able to arrange and edit all the raw footage in a professional way. THAT part has been deftly handled by advanced software and solid creativity. But I feel more pre-production time (story, plot, acting, pro voice recording, sound mastering, etc.) will reap greater rewards.

President Reagan Assaulted by Protester
Plus, he killed any chance of the metric system becoming the U.S. standard. What a bastard.

Hey, how about them drowsy Secret Service guys? Think any of them kept their jobs after this?

The most common melody in the world
I thought Shave and a Haircut was more common. It's older than Gran Vals, too, by three years. Hell, people even knock on doors to the cadence of Shave and a Haircut.

Shave and a haircut, two bits!

Carl Sagan Cosmic Calendar
How could a Sagan fan not be aware of the Cosmos series? It's like a Darwin fan not ever hearing of the Theory of Evolution. Or something like that.

I acquired the 7-disc set myself recently because we watched it originally in my 7th grade science class. I don't remember how things were, politically, back then (aside from the Iran hostages thing), but in re-watching the Cosmos DVDs, Carl Sagan seems very despondent and fearful about the future of man. More than once, he goes on about the likelihood of self-destruction. Only in the added material, shot in 1990, does he seem "happier."

Anyone else notice this? Was Carl Sagan depressed?

WHY ARE WE STILL IN IRAQ?!!! Dennis Kucinich
Here's the thing. The reason we're in Iraq is a reason no one likes, not even the Republicans. If they liked the reason, they'd have told us about it by now.

The reason is...

To have a large and permanent U.S. presence in an area of the world we've always a) had an obvious interest in and b) been unable to achieve.

That's really all it is. America not only wants the oil, they want a country that makes it. Dare I say they want the region that makes it, which could be why Iran is now in the cross hairs.

China is currently a big oil importer but their demand will soon outstrip America's and that's a big big payday. Follow the money.

Sometimes I Doubt Your Commitment To Sparkle Motion
You should see McDonnell in "Mumford" for a different sort of role. I loved her in Grand Canyon, although that one's more of the typecasting you're talking about, a little. Still, she's got a commanding screen presence to be sure.

Voxelstein 3D!
I'm going to have to agree with Spoco2 and disagree with Farhad2000. This game (right there with Outcast, Delta Force, Delta Force 2, Comanche Maximum Overkill, and all the rest of the corpses in the voxelsphere) looks like badger ass. Polys & texture maps just look better, which is why they reign today.

Obama's speech after North Carolina victory
I've lived in North Carolina since 1995 and it's been a "red state" during all this time. In fact, not since 1976 did NC go "blue" and that's only because Carter, a man from Georgia, a mere two states away, was running then.

North Carolina entered the union in 1789 and is among the original 13 colonies. Throughout it's entire electoral college history, it's actually been blue more than red by a margin of almost 3 to 1.

So while the "red/blue" division Obama speaks of is in opposition to ideological principles, the reality is that North Carolina's electoral vote will likely be counted for the GOP in November, despite this hubbub.

But it's nice to be in the spotlight.
