Sorry to be redundant, but it's hard to overstate how brilliant a marketing move this was. Cost = 1 car, and then the video sharing networks will spread this like wildfire. And not to be completely cynical, it's also simply a nice gesture to this poor guy.
^ Well, Lockheed is arguing that regardless of the per-airframe-cost, it will still be worth it because of the avoided logistics and overheads of instead dealing with 3 or 4 different UAV models. Not sure if that's true. This thing looks very expensive.
I think, in general, UAVs should be cheap and flexible, and this does not look cheap at all. I would think that cutting edge performance and stealth is not actually that relevant for UAVs -- if one of them gets shot down then there's no loss of life, minimum loss of money, and the enemy has revealed himself.
>> ^Xax: Oh come on, Shep, this isn't your first day. Your entire fucking channel is unbalanced to the extreme and you know it. Off with the blinders, man.
It's also not his first day to do something like this. He's had numerous similar episodes. There's something different about him and all of the other Fox reporters / personalities.
The story looks fairly cliche as presented in this trailer -- realize you're fighting for the wrong side, epic battle climax. But James Cameron has done some amazing things in the past.
It wouldn't be the hardest thing to fake, but I'm not going to jump on the "I can tell from some of the pixels" bandwagon. The trajectory does look odd, but I've noticed when watching golf the trajectories seem impossible as well. I think "Whoa he sliced that by a mile" and then it lands right on the green.
These are some of the most genuinely happy people I've ever seen. It's so innocent and good natured.
And as it happens, the cinematography is (coincidentally) quite excellent at 3:00 when the groom stands up, straightens his tie, and the rest of the procession swims by. If I made a montage of the best Internet videos ever, those 30 seconds would be in it.
>> ^conan: >> ^rychan: My favorite Pixar film, and they've got many greats.
as if they had that much at all :-)
They've put out 10 feature length films which I think is a decent sized body of work. I think Wall-e, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille are great. Toy Story 1 and 2, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc, A Bug's Life, and Up were good but not great. I never saw Cars.
Up was so crushingly depressing that I couldn't really enjoy any of it.
