For document management on windows, use Sharepoint. The only caveats are that it requires Windows Server, and an MSSQL database for storage.
Windows Server comes with Windows Sharepoint Services out of the box. It's not quite as good as MOSS, but very good for basic document management tasks, and doesn't require any additional licensing.
Don't use SVN for document managment. SVN isn't meant for opaque binary documents, it's meant to handle text files (source code.)

Is that legal over there? Were you on a trial period or something? At least over here, once you're past the two-month (or thereabouts) trial period where either party can terminate the employment contract without advance notice or a reason, they have to give a valid reason for firing you. Or did you just not feel like pressing the matter?
North Carolina is an "At Will" to work state, meaning they can terminate you without cause.
I did get a nice severance, and technically I "resigned" so my resume doesn't look bad, but in return had to sign a 1 year no-compete so I wouldn't run off and start coding for their competitor. Fuck 'em, who needs 14-hour days anyway?
"Will we be a nation of cradle-to-grave Euro-socialist sheeple or freedom loving, hard-working rugged individuals?"
Well the status-quo at the moment is that many hard-working rugged individuals are dying and going bankrupt because other hard-working, rugged individuals are stealing from them.
They are selling them bad products at exorbitant prices, and all the sellers are in collusion with each-other. The free market, in this case, is a bunch of hard-working, rugged con-men who are happy to profit from other's misery. How will removing the controls of government from the health-insurance market improve the situation for anyone but the con-men?

First off: what's a bish?
Second: no you didn't down-vote this, because you can't, so wtf are you talking about?

Nice to let it collect so many up-votes before killing it.
