37 Signals on "Creating a Culture" (Blog Entry by dag)

The sift has a pretty good culture especially when compared to the cultures larger internet communities (digg, reddit ect...) I think its because the sift has grown at a more gradual pace rather then exploding up like the others. You can spend as much time on the bigger sites and never see the same name twice, I like the sift because you become familiar with your fellow users.

Downvoting regionally blocked videos (Sift Talk Post)

I am anti banning of any clip, if it has an embed code, we should be able to take advantage of it here on the Sift. In Canada we can't view half the American websites because of business deals with our fascist media (CTV and Global.) Why punish the sift for this?

I say a *regionblocked invoc is needed, this will at least warn people that there is a chance the video won't work for them. Some have gone out of their way in the past to at least link to an alternative source: Redlasso, C&L, Onegoodmove.org are all options of finding non blocked versions of blocked clips. As a community we should help each other by trying to find alternatives sources, when we can. ahem

The sift needs concrete rules on dupes (Sift Talk Post)

Title your submission "Attenboroughs Greatest Moment" and link to the original submission and I would not call it a Dupe.

It creates a whole new context to what you are sifting, and the added information is then relevant.
