What to do with dupes
I recently stumbled across this dupe of this original
I was wondering what to do with these if I find them. I mean if I discard it, Zifnab will lose his 46 votes and we all know that would be a devastating blow to his rank.
Also, in a perfect world, one would be able to call the dupe and VS would automatically assign the unique votes of users that didn't vote for both, to the original video. Maybe using an invocation that looks like this: *dupe <original url>

Recently I had a similar issue with one of my own video's. The video received around 20 votes before I discovered it was a dupe. Too bad for my starpoint, but I should have checked better. A real downside of this, is that the people who took time to vote for my video also lost their voting (maybe not a real issue, but not encouraging either). I then thought it would be a good idea to merge the votes of both video's and add them to the original video. Zifnab noted this as well in his comment on the discarded video. Maybe it's a nice addition to the Sift?
yes totally agreed. As long as only unique votes are merged as sometimes somebody might vote for the same thing twice.
would suit me if possible, but as it awards votes, might be best at a 100+ power
This has been discussed many times before, but Lucky always says it's simply not possible to do via the comments.
There is kind of a mechanism in place to deal with this already. A discard for the duplicate, and a promote for the original.
yea but you can only promote 6 months and older.
Maybe if there were even a way to send it to discuss and have a siftlord merge upon peer review. Not to clog up the sift talk, but I don't think this happens too often.
well since this issue has been beaten to a pulp already, let's *discard
kisses!
