It's no offense to you, I oppose fur as much as the last person but the reason I downvoted was that I believe it was just to graphic for my tastes and as your nick suggests it seems like a one post deal. Granted you warned about it I just feel that there are better documentaries around, most of us know the cruelty behind the fur trade and there are better ways of documenting so.

There's no rule against only posting one video. There doesn't seem to be evidence of a self-link. I found the video interesting. I'm saving it.

@makeitstop - This video has been floating around the Internet for a long time. It probably won't be upvoted by the VideoSift community. I guess that is because it rises to the level of animal snuff. You won't find hunting vids here either. However, people will find it elsewhere, eventually, and be impotently outraged.

It's not the one video that I downvoted for gorillaman, it's just like silvercord said, this really is just animal snuff.

I don't think you know where you are. This is VideoSift where members post stupid little videos that we think others will find funny, cool, or compelling or whatever and the members rank said videos by individual votes and vie for their own popularity.

This is not an advocacy forum where you campaign for whatever cause you think is the most important issue to mankind. Any and all videos are judged on a case by case basis and will be praised or ridiculed on its individual merits.

So don't go getting mad at us when we express our opinions through our votes and don't pick up your cause.

I downvoted for several reasons. I'm against fur too, but just because you feel your video and the cause you espouse are important doesn't mean others will feel the same. In this case, I agree with your position, but I just think the vid is too over-the-top for VS. Don't take it so personal. I probably would have downvoted no matter who posted it. Doesn't mean I (and others) don't feel outrage at what it contains, but since the whole purpose of the video is to evoke anger and outrage, I'm feeling a little stroked, and I have a no dogma policy when it comes to meting my emotions and industry. (unless it's left-wing liberal nubbery)

The drive-by comment... as gm stated, there is no policy against one post. The only reason I came to the conclusion that it was a drive-by was your joining and posting on the same day with the nym you chose. You haven't been lurking and learning and then just decided to finally post your first vid. You chose to join VS for the express purpose of spreading the word of your cause. While not explicitly forbidden, it rubbed me wrong. This ain't YouTube.

That said, if you wish to stay and be part of an awesome online community, please do. It's great now and just gets better with every update.

I'm all for political discussion, controversial videos, jesus, prophets of all kinds, anything goes. But VS is about the best interesting videos on the intertubes. The first (and only) rule of videosift is don't put your own crap. I suppose there is nothing wrong with being a one trick pony and submitting all of the same kind of video. "joeBidenFan" could link all the campaign videos from Biden I guess... There is a thin line though at what point does that person become a self-linker?

What about "NikeCampaign" who only submits Nike ad videos?
