Setting Queue Escape Level to 7 Peak 6 Offpeak

The little "Queue Alert" notice must be working, because things are cycling out of the queue at a much faster rate. At the moment, we're going though 3 complete front page refreshes in a 24 hour period. So things are still sliding off the front page a little too quickly.

This morning I have some ideas concerning the queue.

How about choices for viewing it:

• Least to most votes
• Most to least votes
• Least to most days
• Most to least days
• Least to most viewed
*Most to least viewed

In the top rated videos section there are different ways to look at the video. That’s what gave me the idea.

As for the long videos . . . those chew up a lot of sifting time. Fortunately I have not been disappointed when I have looked at those. Maybe there should be a designation label for time length on them when they are submitted. Google has:

• All durations
• Short (<4 min) • Medium (4 – 20 min)
• Long (>20 min)

Google also offers a “sort by”:

• Relevance
• Date
• Title

With a larger number of members involved with this site, the “sifting process” out of the queue will be happening faster. Who participates when is going to affect what makes it out of the queue and when. I have noticed some folks being less shy about the “down vote.” What we’re used to will be different with 3,000 members out there.

The “dupe police” are going to be even busier.

Definitely can do the sort by votes, newness etc. I think that is needed pronto. The duration one is harder because we don't have any visibility on the video length. I suppose we could create a field on submission, where people enter the minutes, or give it a value like "short", "medium", "long" from a drop-down box.

I think mine did too, maybe my Grandpa - he was into Spanish, though never really spoke it. He liked to pepper his English with a bit of it though. I remember him saying "vamanos" a lot.
