Searching before video submission is a crap shoot

Sometimes I'll find a great video I'd like to Sift, but my queue would be full already, so I'd either have to wait or discard one already in the queue. For those really great videos I will discard a video already in my queue, but before I do that I try my best to locate a dupe of the video I want to post.

This is met with success maybe half of the time. What usually happens is I try to find a dupe, after not locating one I then discard a video from my queue, but the second I submit the new video, I see the dupe listed on the submission confirmation page. Now, I'm out the original video I discarded and the new one because it's a dupe.

Does anyone else feel my pain? I propose giving us the option to run through the submission process in its entirety even when our queue is full - it just won't be added to the queue. That way, at least, we can see for sure if there are any dupes before discarding a vid from our queue to make room. It seems to be a better way to search for videos than the search box, for some reason. Or, maybe we could be given the chance to save our own discarded videos? Maybe give us two days to save them at least? Food for thought.

Great suggestion. Do you think it would work just as well to have add an identical 'search embed' box in the advanced search?

Another useful tool might be to have an exhaustive search option in advanced search. It would be good to be able to search all the sifted, discarded, dead, etc. vids with one click.

So... not added to the queue because yours is full... but if someone with a space in their queue sifts it after you added it to your 2nd queue, but before it gets bumped to your primary queue, it will now be a dupe, unless your 2nd queue blocked them sifting it, OR you had to re validate before finally submitting it, and not have it auto enter your queue when your queue has room...

The queue needs quality, not quantity tbh, and adding complicated meta queues is not the solution to your being skilled at finding interesting vids

Well, first I'd like to say "LOL" at choggie for the *whiny tag. Rereading this sift talk, it does sound like I was being whiny. Wasn't meant to sound that way, but ohz wellz - chock it up to my inept writing skillz. Certainly (to Thylan's point) the purpose of this place isn't to have quantity, but rather quality. True, true.

Though, I was more insinuating a way to search better in the advanced search, much like what fissionchips was saying, without adding a lot of extra programming work to the site: i.e., a way to do the "submit video" type of search that seems to be more thorough than the other methods in the advanced search page.
