Oldest Medals Listing - Friends, Lend Me Your Votes

When thinking about all the great videos that have earned many votes and how long it could take for them to all re-up their vote tallies, it hit me that we know where some real gold is. How do we measure it? With those shiny little medals of course!

For the past several months, every video that's reached the top 15 sidebar has earned a medal. Before now, there's been no way to list all videos just by that attribute.

Just added to the Top Sifts tab, you can select the "oldest medals" order in the sidebar drop-down box. This will list strictly videos that have medaled in the selected date range. This is a wonderful place to start browsing when trying to think of videos that really deserve your vote.

And another great thing about them is it works in channels as well. So if you browse the listing from within a channel, just videos that earned a medal in that channel (and not necessarily any medal in the main site) are listed.

Why "oldest" medals? Because we can select the range we want to browse and the default is 24 hours. If we sorted by newest, no matter what date range you select, you'd see the same listing on page 1. Also, a newest listing would be kind of useless since they're probably still sitting on the front page!

Here's a sample listing for the main site for all time:

Here's the same thing but for the Asia channel only:

Enjoy!

Might it not be a good idea to give all sifted videos 10 votes somehow, maybe siftbot has the power to vote 10 times for a video. Otherwise I doubt all those sifted videos will reach 10 again. This wouldn't be a huge problem, but it might screw with the top sifter rankings. For example a newbie who has a string of good posts might surpass a seasoned oldbie because their old videos don't count for anything.

Before the catastrophe I was ranked 100, now I'm 124, must mean I had a high average number of voter/video. It's all gone

Maybe we should just give all the videos from before the catastrophe "BC" votes as in Before Catastrophe, instead of a number of votes. Because the votes will never return completely fairly or equally.

We could also use this occasion to switch from ranking user by votes to ranking them by star points. I kind of think that is a better method anyway, but there might have been reasons I can't think of now for why it is the way it is.

I'm just giving ever video that has a medal my vote even if I I hadn't voted for it before. The way I look at it the video made the top ten with or without my vote and even with me voting for it now it will probably never get the votes it originally had.
