Yeah, thanks for posting this, karkarlee. Interesting (and I would have thought that the sift would at least be in the top 5000... we need to spread the word, I guess).

Well you have to count in all the huge sites out there like google, ebay, amazon, and all the news sites that have several language options. Each google, whether it be .com or .fi or .ie, is counted separately.

Plus I'm happy that videosift isn't mainstream. DeviantART, for example, is in the top 100 ( currently 83 ). I've had quite a lot of bad experience there, from more and more bad art ( mostly anime ) to incredibly pointless comments, to the generally horrible behavior of most of the members.

IMO Videsift deserves to be in the top 100, but if it were, it wouldn't be the way it is now. But yeah.. top 1000 or so would be nice.

*quality info

Who knew Americans were just barely over half of the users here? Kind of scary. We need to build a wall now, before we become a minority.

^ and me.

Alexa is helpful, but maybe not the best ranker out there.

We use compete.com increasingly - as the stats seem to be a bit more accurate. The absolute BEST one is Google Trends - because they're google - but the downside is that they don't give any real numbers, just comparisons. http://trends.google.com/websites?q=videosift.com%2C+popurls.com&geo=all&date=all&sort=0

Ooh good to know. Another boredom cure! Checked out compete.com. The layout is weird but the info is good.

In a way comparison is better than numbers, 'cause the blind ranking isn't gonna tell you much. Even if a billion people visit goatse, it doesn't make it a cool, informative site. Plus general purpose sites like google are gonna always rank up higher because of the simple fact that they can appeal to anyone.

^ There are a few Aussies around. But we are definitely in the shadow of our bigger gringo brothers. I will post a country breakdown from our own stats that will give a more accurate breakdown.
