Hide Videos You have already viewed

I found that when I click the unsifted tab, it brings me to the unsifted page sorting newest queue date but for some reason the videos I have already viewed have been filtered out. I know there's an option for this, but why does it default to that? Is this a bug, or is it designed to do that?
