I have said that we are not going to allow the creation of the Videodrome channel for a couple of reasons.
1. Choggie has already created 3 channels
2. The topic seems broad enough to cause confusion- not sure exactly what it's about

It's mostly not of sifters tastes, but there might be a market for more mellow criss crocker type videos. I suppose it falls under viral, but WTF is that. We do need more REAL channels like nouns, not concepts and less subjective categories. How about "conspiracies" might fall under the nwo, fringe stuff, but yeah looks like choggie is DOA on this channel request.

More importantly, it's off kilter for any one member to singlehandedly define so many new channels. Perhaps we need to etch in stone an official limit for how many/frequently a new channel can be created by a user. Maybe one per year would be good.

Agree, perhaps the name would confuse folks who can't read simple instructions.....This is stated pretty much straight forward in my "Pending" channel....
-Artistic, creatively-inspired and unique, Fan-Made mash-ups, custom players, and Up-and coming points of light, not yer run of the mill, 15-minutes types....

The real problem is going to be the fact that all the videos for that channel will get only a few votes based on the tastes of the linear majority who have no concept of anything real anyhow.
So make a playlist and put it on your blog daily or whatever.
And I disagree with both head hanchos that it matters about three previous channels. We haven't added that many, and no one has really abused anything, and I don't think choggies intent is to abuse anything. It's easier to just say, no more Niks Naks channels and leave it at that.

my fif teen, I created the wwshow at the goading of one AWOL user, raven-she tickled me and stroked me one night after I was dead set on letting EIA channel goto the worthy anfd enthusiastic, karaidl....., (kulpims) still wants it yah??!!, , offered here to the collective, and snapped.

i just thought it should be ultimately up to you anyway, on a case-by-case basis, without need to needing to declare anything based on this. like i said, though, i wasn't here for choggie's original channel-changes, or anyone else's, and was just looking for a 'thumbnail sketch' of the reasoning behind the request.

Anyways, I wouldn't even contempt a rule since who knows if v3.3 brings more useful more control, etc. to a "channel" and it is re-envisioned. It never quite achive ecosphere/ critical mass. I never use other then as a more advanced sorting/playlist.

I'm not singling you out or anything, we just feel that one member should not be able to create 4 different channels and move on after each one. We have quite a few channels now, so I'd really like to reserve channel creation for new bronze diamonds that rise through the ranks. I think 2 would be a good limit going forward.

Assuming there are more cool things that channel "owners" like myself can do in the future I think creating one channel is just fine. Makes you focus on what you really want to create, instead of dumping it when you're bored. Or perhaps if the user gets another 250 videos submitted they then create another? That'll prove they really want it
Maintaining a channel isn't too hard, nor would be maintaining 3...but keeping our channels from becoming too specialized and complex is important. No help to anybody but I think that describes the conflict.
