Feature Request - "Friend" generation via vote comparison?
posted by omnithrope 1 year 3 months 2 weeks ago • 59 views
Howdy.

I was just thinking... I like looking at what people have voted for, and try to find people that are both like, and unlike myself in regards to voting.

Is there any way to collect stats and cull a list of, say, 10 "friends" that have similar tastes so we can go view their posts and vote history? It would be another cool way to be able to mine through the Sift. Just a thought. =)

Honestly, a 10 "friends" and 10 "nemesises" list would be fantastic!

^--Stalker!

Aw hell, who am I to talk...

So, I suppose this could show up somewhere in a customized fashion? Kind of like the section on the bottom entitled "Other videos by whomever," you could have a completelely different section titled "What your friends are posting" somewhere on your profile or front page? Sounds good. Maybe an idea for 3.1 or 3.2

*quality stalking suggestion.

We really need a seperate idea bin for stalker-ish ideas. I mean, it seems to work for facebook.

Some sort of "opt out" functionality (do we care about user privacy?) is a potential complication. Would too many people opting out ruin it, or be a good way to avoid people freaking out over it?

Why would privacy be an issue? I certainly don't care if anybody's checking up on my posts. I mean, how can I blame them?

I hadn't thought about the privacy issue. I figured that since it's all public knowledge if you look for it, making it easier to find just makes it... easier to find.
