So based on this post

I was wondering if we should refine 'geek' to:

- tech

- science

- info

- space (?)

and we should really have

- nature

...been thinkin' the same,..as I try to brainstorm a suitable revision, all those sub-group suggestions sound great....perhaps a user-friendly grid like on groper, where the categories swell as you cursor over...could get stoopid, though, ....cute, pretty, sweet, that would piss me off, cutes' bad enough....

I worry about too much granularity in channels, and overlapping. Perhaps I worry too much.

Wow: I'm pleased my [heavily sarcastic] comment instigated some thought in people (other than what the hell is the bullshit bible quote all about? Nicky P knows what I mean!)

But back to the point: channles are a difficult thing...very subject to the users opinions. I've been a bit casual (or provocative of a Farhad Flame War) with tags - mainly to see where they can be pushed. Generally, I think the Sift needs more overall channels (such as art / action) more than sub-groups being developed.

are channels really that big of a deal guys? personally, i don't even use them. i sift through every video and channels are nary a concern.

i also think your provocation of farhad is extremely sophomoric, benjee. it would be nice to see you leaving off the acerbic comments from some of your posts.

I don't use the channels yet either. Well, they *were* implemented during my "dark" month, when I didn't have access. I just came back to all this fancy stuff. I enjoy just sifting through everything!

I'm a woman of simple needs tho :-P

I don't really use channels either - other than when marking my own posts, so I don't think they need any more work (but would prefer general updates if it was, rather than more specific ones).

Sorry LadyBug - but it's my sarcastic & facetious sense of humour responsible for the 'acidic tone' to my text. Sifting when slightly drunk also has a factor in it - but I type to entertain myself more than others. Me and Farhad have a bit of banter between us (see either of our comments over the last month) - it's not serious at all, so I hope no-one takes offence.
