3rd voting option
posted by nashbaar 2 years 2 months 2 weeks ago • 53 views
Previously I had suggested that we try and something that shows how many times a video has been viewed (as another great metric to look at) since that is not an option right now because of the API's how about this:

Add a 3rd voting option it is not a plus or negative, but mearly a notification that the video was watched by one of our members here.

I think this would give the submitter an idea of what the community thinks of the video in general good/bad or otherwise.

Thoughts?

I'd be a go if for only 2 thoughs: 1. Would we be able to change this vote in the future (incase the vid grows on us or doesn't)? 2. Would this vote effect the 3 rules for sifting out vids (escape queue, die from negative, die from too few in 48hrs)?

I don't personally see a huge need for a neutral vote. I think just numerically showing how many members have viewed a video (as opposed to how many times the video has been viewed) would be enough to gauge popular opinion.

I agree with SnakePlissken - I'm more curious about how many people watched my video so I can compare it to those who did vote for it and know how many people just passed on it. This info would help me better determine what videos people are responsive too.
