The arguments about the definition of life and sentience in this episode are thought-provoking and especially relevent and poignant today. Star Trek: The Next Generation is at times a very silly show complete with bizarre sci-fi situations, corny dialogue, and bad special effects, but you can't deny that the writers came up with some pretty brilliant stuff sometimes. This episode is one of my personal favorites.

Oh, man. When I was a kid Worf was one of my least favorite characters. How could I have been so wrong?! This is a funny clip from "Qpid" Season 4, Episode 20. The infamous Q has been causing trouble again in one of Star Trek: The Next Generation's most memorable episodes.

This is high definition and may take a second to load but is TOTALLY WORTH IT. In this music video from Kenna, a depressed factory worker living in a world of grayscale invents the greatest invention ever. It's an artistic video and a great song. The song is called Hell Bent and the claymation was originally an Oscar-nominated short called "More" by Mark Osborne but is now a music video. Enjoy!

I went through great pains to find a high-quality version of this for you guys because it is one of the very best music videos I've ever seen. Appreciate it, dagnabbit!

This is a funny clip from the Up! series, one of the most groundbreaking documentaries ever made. It's one of my favorites. Every 7 years, the filmmakers have gone back to interview the same 14 children, one of which is Paul here. They began in 1964 when the subjects were 7. In the latest film, the "children" are 49 years old. By the way, Paul Kligerman is happily married now, and his wife says that he loves greens.

"S-say you had a w-wife they…they…say, you had to eat what they cooked you and…and say I don’t like greens, well, I don’t. And say she said you have to eat what you get--give. So I…I don’t like greens so she gives me greens and that--that’s it."

If you guys appreciate how amazing and beautiful this is, I'll love you forever. Best part at 2:45! Alexander Lischke (14 years old) sings Mozart with Andreas and Christian (last names?), all of them singers in Toelzer Knabenchor. It's all good, but my favorite part comes at about 2:45. And Alexander goes slightly flat on the last note, sadly.

"Liebes Mandel" is a succinct comic masterpiece for three voices and string quartet, based on a simple real-life situation (what better basis for a text?) in which Mozart and Constanze search in vain for a lost ribbon (possibly a garter-belt) which is finally found by friend Gottfried von Jacquin. The closing heroics of "pretty pretty ribbon...we've got it, yes!" make for umatched operatic parody.

From Akira Kurosawa's AWESOME film, Dreams(1990). It is a compilation of dramatizations of the famous director/producer/screenwriter's actual dreams. This is one of my favorites because of it's poignance and sickening, twisted absurdity. It's especially interesting in light of the fact that Kurosawa lived through the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The entire film is a sort of bizarre, unconscious autobiography and I highly recommend it.
