I can't find any evidence that Gwaan has visited the sift in the last 7 months. So there's nobody to administer the Islamica channel. Should a new leader be installed?

Suggestion: Filter setting for Region-blocking videos?

Perhaps there should be a setting for videos, like NSFW that applies to region-blocked videos.

I suggest:
-Users & uploaders can invoke whether a video is region-blocking (*region)
-The video will show up as unavailable to the user (greyed out?)

I don't know how often I've loaded a video only to think my computer is screwed up or sit through a few commercials to find out it's blocking the content. I'd definitely love to filter these duds out from my list, and would be willing to *tag/categorise them as *region blocking to save others the waste of time.

Time to Raise the Queue Escape Level?

It's a Sunday in the US, and the oldest post on the bottom of the front page has been published for all of 44 minutes.

We are getting LOTS of volume. Should we jack the queue escape level to 11 or even 12?

My feeling is that the weave in our Sifter has become pretty wide. Big chunks of unsifted flour are falling into the bowl.

I have noticed that I have yet to move in ranking dispite me submitting continuous videos... While I can understand that the person right above me is either submitting better videos or has a high vote gap, I can't figure out who is the person above me unless if I check all profiles to see who it is...

While the Top 15 is a great idea, it really hasn't changed at all for the last year... Could we see about getting a ranking system we can check on our rank?

Filtering Out Featured Member Comment

Effective immediately there is a "Hide featured member comment" option in the "Filters" section of member account preferences. Ticking the corresponding box will vanish the oh so precious comment from the top of every VideoSift page.

Also, concerns about messy appearance when the comments include quotes from other comments has been addressed, so they should look a little less aesthetically unappealing now.

Unfiltered Recently Promoted? Also, my queue.

I noticed on my logged in home page, I still see videos that are unfiltered (channels) for "Recently Promoted". Is this by design or a bug? I thought the whole idea of filtered channels was to not show these even for promoted.

Also I noticed in my submission queue, I use channels that are filtered that I set, but they don't show up in the list. Is this also by design? I have to logoff/turn off cookies to see my complete sumission queue list. This flaw(?) has been around for months (probably since channel filter feature started).

Not sure if or when there's going to be a VideoSift 3.2 or 4.0, but I thought I'd mention a few things that I'd love to see on the site — some minor, others more significant.

This is a minor one, but it would sure be nice if there was the option to auto-select the 'Email me when...' checkboxes when submitting a video. I always select those.

After submitting a video, the 'Possible duplicates' page shows five existing videos on the site. I think this number needs to be increased now that there are so many videos in the database — it's getting harder to find the dupes.

The '< Modify' button on that page takes you back to the Submit page, but all of the previous data is gone (at least in my browser).

I'd love to see more done on the site with playlists. It would be great to see which playlists a video is in right in the expanda-playlist box under the video, rather than way down at the bottom of the page. Also maybe a playlist could be featured on the Hot page, based on which has received the highest number of recent votes?

It would also be great to have more listing options on the Channels page — I miss the days of being able to see all the channels listed by popularity.

The Unsifted Videos 'newest queue date' sorting is still broken.

I think the queue time should be shortened down to 2 days again. Videos never get any votes on the 'in between' day after they've dropped off the first few pages of the queue and before they appear in the Top Unsifted Expiring Soon. They just sit there taking up valuable space in our personal queue.

I know this has been raised before and shot down, but I think it might be time to reopen the idea of having some more 'social' features on the site. The reality of any large community is that certain personalities gravitate towards one another, while others gravitate in other directions. I think it would be nice to have a way for social groups to form within the site. Not sure exactly what form that would take, but I'd like to reopen the discussion.

Thoughts? Other ideas? Leave your comments here.

This Zonbie's out to get your lulz! This member of the Liberty City Gun Club will deliver your milk in the morning, but only after he crushes a Fremen rebellion. Shouldn't everyone conquer desert worlds first thing in the morning? It leaves you feeling so refreshed for the remainder of your day and the spice does wonders for your complexion.

Why not join me in congratulating him and, while we're at it, checking out his PQ and maybe see if there's anything worth salvaging from his discards. Congrats again, Zonbie, and how about hooking it up with a job in the gaming industry some day? I have this great idea for a game... it's about a zombie uprising that starts in a little video community site on the internet and then spreads across the globe in an orgy of drugs, sex, and rock and roll! Get me Ken Levine!
