the problem is that it has been delayed another full year that brings up the full delay to 2 years now.

its nice but the first one will be delived Singapore Airlines in Oct of 2007 and the rest are to be delivered in 2008. great plane if only they could build them faster. a lot of people have said its the wire'ing that is the problem that includes the BBC and the plane enthusiasts i know. hehe its better than watching trains but still pretty lame to most ppl.

The older hydraulic ways worked pretty good. Hard to get fault tolerant redundant analog controls through wiring. What would be cool is a wireless network, that way you didn't have to wrory about wiring and aging wires needed to be replaced. You'd need some good military level communcation and secure channels.

Actually, Airbus is having financial troubles because of their massive investments in the A380 project. Their CEO recently resigned, they'll pay massive penalties due to the delivery delays and they'll be forced to do some downsizing.

Boeing, on the other hand, has an unprecedented amount of orders for the 787 Dreamliner, which is designed for fuel efficiency. Airbus won't be able to deliver a competitor to the 787 in many years, meaning that Boeing will be in much better shape in the future.
