I'm not sure the cat is meaning to hold on to the can. It's plausible that he just has his front teeth stuck on the inner jagged metal edge and is trying to get away from the can in the only way it knows how...

Some viewers on YouTube (Hungry Bengal Kitten) have chosen to use vulgar language toward me (noossab1) for my supposed irresponsibility and stupidity. Please enjoy this video for the candid harmless moment that it is. Ichabod was unharmed and is much loved and properly cared for. The can has a smooth top edge. The sharper edge below was too far away to be "stuck" to his tiny front teeth. He remained engaged toward the end due to leverage only. Don’t assume without facts or inquiry. Cheers.
