How unlucky do you have to be to fall just early enough to get hit by the fire truck? I mean, maybe a half-second more and he would have been fine. I laughed heartily once I found out he survived. That looked damn painful though.

Physics wise he's lucky he fell exactly when he did. Transferring the vertical force to lateral probably saved his bones from breaking.(same idea as ski jumping) The windshield acted as a shock absorber.
