Its very much within the realm of science to halt aging altogether.
Theres a lot of snakeoil out there about it, granted...but there is a legitimate science in the works that is studying and hoping to engineer out the things that cause cell degeneration and mutation...ie. stop cells from aging.

Nowhere near ready yet, Prof. Degrey said himself we are at least 40 years from human trials, but early lab experiments with rats show marked improvements in lifespan.
