Who has controlled and conquered the Middle East over the course of history? Egyptians, Turks, Kurds, Jews, Romans, Arabs, Persians, Europeans... the list goes on.

The modern Middle East is still being destroyed by the imperialistic aspirations of a few men - be they American, Iranian, Israeli, or Syrian.

Wonder why that is??? Could it be that there are humans involved??Youv'e got the current paradigm to consider, as well as the cyclical aspect of the natural world, perception, and the ever-tightening exponetial spiral, lending to the possibility approaching of a singularity of sorts.....makes the inability of humans to abandon religious and ethnic bullshit feuds, regardless of the past, their parents, etc., seem pretty pathetic in light of what there is to gain from turning the rage on the purveyers and enablers, i.e., the beyond rich and powerful few.

We could have gone off-grid and had an efficient, ergonomic planet, if folks like Edison, had been ditched for folks like Tesla, and assholes like Harriman,and A.Hammer, etc., had been offered to Molock, and Buckminster Fuller's, ideas implemented......follow the trail of $$$$$

I though they would show the WWI stuff and arbitrary line drawing. I'm pretty sure the over simplified the intro these. Egypt -> Israelites -> Babylon? WTF. They left out post WWII expansions and shifting borders. I think they threw in the independance dates to muddy the waters. Modern history would be interesting iran/iraq, russians, pak/india, Jordan israel.

I agree with you joedirt, it ain't perfect and it misses-out/oversimplifies the modern period.

It also misses out the formation of states like Saudi Arabia. The country now known as Saudi Arabia originally consisted of a number of essentially autonomous regions which were captured and forced to submit to the control of the Al-Sauds - politically, and the Wahhabs - theologically. The Saudi-Wahhabi 'unification' of Arabia was essentially imperialism. Also it doesn't include the expansion of Israeli settlements onto Palestinian land.

But I still think it's pretty interesting.

For the record, I looked around the guys site and he's totally pro-war, pro-propaganda, pro-admin lock-step groupthink. I wouldn't be surprised if they get US $$ to produce all his fun animations. Literally this theme of the site is "we are at war and have always been at war"

What an Orwellian assmunch.

It skips lot of the 'other' eras where the middle east was fractured with Hellenic Greek states and Crusade states.

Also, you can use the same method used her over the European map and say Vienna was always a part of an Empire. Starting with Celts, Romans, Western Rome, Frankish empire, Holy Roman Empire, Spanish-HRE empire, Austrian Empire, Austrian-Hungarian empire and Nazi German Empire.

What I'm saying is: This project doesn't mean anything. I actually happen to know one of the team member of this project, and he's far from being a professional.

This is just another example of what happens when people 'selectively pick out the 'convenient truth' and focus on these facts only.
