They are all just lucky that he dropped it into a pond. The instant kill radius for a frag grenade is 5 meters. They would have all been dead, if not critically injured. But now I have to ask: Where the hell did they get a grenade in the first place? At first I didn't think it was a real grenade until I saw the spoon fly off.

Hey nock, a heads-up....I have a real hard-on for the types of folks who will scream "racist", yet act as if a single word uttered, no matter the context is somehow, an all-telling indicator of the character of that person-I am also a lover of semantics and linguistics, and all those subjects entail.....When ever someone gets too, politically correct, the hackles are raised, and I get all excited.....Raised in Houston Tx, by hippy parents, and went to college as a minority student, at an historically Black university.....the word nigger, has become something else since I have been alive, and I am quick to remind folks, of their own bullshit, and am often reminded of my own.....The real dilemma, is how to manage to turn this word into simply a word, and not a connotation.....I still have not figured this one out.....I consider anyone who acts like a stereotypical racist's view of a black man, regardless of melanin content, a nigger, because as it has evolved, in its usage- the word refers to anyone who is all the things that historically, only blacks in the US prior to the civil rights era, were accused of. Low moral character, lazy, without a sense of taste or culture, beyond their own myopic view of the world, uneducated, etc etc etc .....You don't have to be any particular shade of any color, to be a nigger nowadays. I've been at this exact pond. It's in Cambodia about 30 mins from Phnom Penh. There's lots and lots of weapons left over from the Khmer Rouge era, and no control over who uses them or how. There's also booming tourism from people who live in countries where these weapons are illegal, and somebody put the two together. (Here's a vid I shot of my buddy throwing a nade there). Anybody can drive up and, within a couple of minutes of arriving, throw a grenade or shoot any of a variety of guns, even a rocket launcher. They used to let us shoot cows with the rocket launcher, but apparently too much heat started coming down, so now you can only shoot at a nearby mountain.

The "reception" area is a folding table underneath a tin roof, right behind where this camera man and I were shooting from, so it's unlikely that anybody has ever dropped a grenade that didn't get kicked into the water in time.

I couldn't believe how lax they were about safety. I shot a fully automatic AK-47. The guy just handed it to me, pointed it downrange, then nonchalantly walked downrange to set up my target with this loaded AK pointed right at his back. He didn't even look back to check.

I also shot a clip from a 9mm handgun. He asked me if I needed to be shown how to use it. I said no, and he let me shoot. Then I handed it off to another friend I was with for the last few rounds. She had never shot a gun before, but he didn't ask, just let her go to it.

That probably wasn't one of the people working there telling him it was dangerous. It was the guy holding the camera, so it was probably his tuk-tuk driver/guide.

You are right, johnny, please don't take it personally, I did knee-jerk a bit....I still reel from having been surrounded by self-righteous types who cry foul when certain words used, yet laugh at cartoon characters using the same ones....and too, it was my intent, upon seeing the white-shirted guy comment, to turn the obvious comments expected on such a thread in another direction, bad choice on my part, (don't even know if a point was made!) I would not be able to spot a Sri Lankan dude either....Labeling, is not the same as describing someone, by the tone of their skin now, issit?

Something tells me that was not a Fragmentation grenade. any one speculate as to what type it was? A frag probably would have done some damage, that didn't look like it did much but go bang.
