Um... Yeah... that's pretty amazingly stupid.

I can not remotely fathom breaking a coconut with my bare hands. Is it even possible? Or is this some kind of cruel setup?

This is not even near as stupid and embarrassing and lame as the Finnish Olli "Cola-Olli" Hokkanen.

Explanation: He tried to drink a 1.5L bottle of Coca-Cola as quickly as possible on a similar TV show. He stopped at 3rd glass out of 7 and said "I can't. It's too acidy." The show host asked if it came as a surprise that Coca-Cola contains carbonic acid... After that hundreds of thousands (maybe millions) of Finnish kids posted their own videos on YouTube where they drank whole 1.5L bottles in a few seconds etc. On a side note Olli is now being charged for filming half-naked underaged kids.

Well there's this guy who does it with one finger. But that finger is very much deformed now. So it's definitely possible, just not the kind of thing you line up a bunch of.

My hand hurts just watching that. I'm guessing the guy didn't buy the coconuts themself and so they were harder than he's used to? Or did he just miss the sweet spot eight times in a row?

It wasn't hitting the coconuts that got me, it was missing the coconuts and slamming his hand repeatedly on the iron I-Beam that made me go "ouch".

I think he fell just short of the Coconut Hand Smashing world record. The current record holder completely smashed his hand with just 7 coconuts, and it took this guy 8.

5. Make sure the coconuts are properly supported so they don't move.
6. Place something soft where your hand would go if you miss the coconuts. Metal hurts.
7. Don't choose coconut hand smashing.
