I've read about this a bit, ran across it on a blog a day or two ago. Apparently this whole "he runs the network" bit is based on a quote some reporter attributes to an unnamed NBC executive who supposedly used the term. I'd guess in a figurative rather than literal manner though that didn't come across where it was used. I don't find the interview online but lots of references to the subject point back to this, dated the 10th so it's one of the older references at least. If anyone finds the interview itself online rather than references to it I'd love to see it.
