This doesn't even include the $400+ billion budget for the US military. A friend of mine says the US spends this much money so that it is prepared to wage simultaneous wars against two major military powers a la WWII. With Germany and Japan out of the picture, that shit is just not going to happen. Seriously, if you think both Russia and China are going to start a war with the US, then you are ^%$^ing out of your mind. Not saying that the US shouldn't keep it's military lead, but spending almost as much money on weapons as the rest of the world combined is just retarded (http://www.globalissues.org/Geopolitics/ArmsTrade/Spending.asp).
