This is probably the best documentary about the sorry state of the music industry. Well worth the watch.

HOLY SHIT! Was that opening number from Billy Preston (one of many "Fifth Beatles") and the Genius himself ever FUCKING OUTSTANDING!!! Haven't been able to watch this whole thing yet, but will do so when sweetie gets home.

I know Sifty's gonna' be pissy, but this is some *quality stuff!

I don't see why they opened with an idoitc premise that American music is some how better than other music.

its also false to think just because music is diverse or a culture in a society has deverce forms of music that it is neceserlly better than a culture that dose not have diverse music.

I'm going to watch the rest of this its just anoyign that it opens on 2 false premises

there example video and song , is terable , it looks crap and sounds crap.

who cares if people use auto tune ? its just a different ganra of music its like for no reason stipulating that you cannot use sinths ore something.

what's annoying is this documentary has some valid potions , and the fact is pop music at the moment really is fucked , not because of the music itself but more because of the structure of the industry and the marketing.

WHO CARES ABOUT FUCKING RADIO anny one that has 4 brain cells dosent bother with radio. people use last.fm, specifc website streeming , or just download mp3s.

Turns out they get there at the end of the documentary.

Radio is still a valid, informative, engaging and easily accessible media. You discount its reliability and cultural familiarity, westy. Radio will never die, especially BECAUSE it can now be accessed via the net, satellite radio, podcasts etc. Plus it's relatively inexpensive to produce.

I contribute 3 hours of my time every week hosting a radioshow with my friends on University of Toronto's CIUT 89.5 fm (http://www.nightshift895.com). Radio plays an important role in establishing community, and encouraging participation in and discussion of community events/issues.

This had some good interviews. It was funny that they had footage from outside an Ashlee Simpson concert because when she had her lip-sync disaster on SNL I thought it was inevitable. She was one of many that were fast-tracked to fame without earning it through years of dedication and experience. A pro wouldn't have been using a vocal track or even if they were they would have had the experience to handle the situation and tell the drummer to start over with the right song. Instead she just wandered around in a daze.
