The skit is brilliant in Jim Carrey's Man on the Moon. Interesting to see Kaufman's original performance.

I love it... Kaufman's comedy isn't quite for everyone, but it's definitely for me.

Karaidl, I suppose if you didn't know Kaufman's style back then. In the beginning before he did all the outrageous publicity stunts, he played this mousy soft spoken character.
Also folks had not "seen it all" yet when it came to stand up. For a guy to stand on stage saying nothing while a record played took the audience back a bit. So when it became obvious he was only waiting for MM's line. It was funny.

Absolutely, swampgirl. Sometimes it's the anticipation of the joke, or the complete opposite of what you're expecting, that provides the most humor. Andy definitely had that part down!
