It looks great as a series of static images, although some of those facial expressions didn't quite work, bringing the faces back to the Uncanny Valley. Animating those revised faces is going to be an immense challenge, but this is still an awesome start.

This is pretty amazing indeed. But one starts to wonder how this could be applied to video manipulation and make all kinds of convincing fake videos. This could be used for scary results like framing people etc.
On the other hand it could also be used for a lot of fun things like creating a very convincing avatar of yourself. Or populating games with characters that are all unique and randomly generated.
Though like maudlin said the expressions weren't convincing enough yet.

Up until the halfway point, I was thinking, "OK, so like twiddling morph dials on a Poser model, but with a much better dataset..." And then, yeah, wow.

On the one hand, I find this to be quite scary stuff. As Cyberbeast says, it's a big step toward making video evidence easy to fake.

On the other hand, making video evidence easy to fake would be a big step toward making CCTV redundant. I like that thought.

Anyone remember the film "The Running Man"? It featured the faked death of a pair of characters via real-time "face mapping". This is about 2 or 3 years of additional development from that.
