This ought to make every 8th grade science teacher weep.

Our democracy is in the hands of these ignorant people! They elect senators and congressmen who are expected to make policy on global warming, healthcare, and nuclear power. What can people who know nothing about the issues contribute with their vote besides choosing whichever candidate is the most beautiful / the most propagandized by media? We are in deep shit unless the education system improves. Economic effects of education are insignificant next to education's role in democracy.

There's not a lot of activity on the sift tonight. Sigh... and here I am having allllll this time to play for a change.

VS grew up... you know I remember back in the day... we'd all sift till dawn. Work? Projects? Relationships? What were they? I've got to check to see if anyone commented on my sift! Dishes pilling up behind me as the hours flew by..... ignoring the phone..

The site is sooo big now. I don't even keep up with the new rules and updates. Shame on me!

I should recommit myself to ignoring my responsibilities more often so I can devote more time to to sifting. After all, I am down to number 15. How much longer can I keep that up? Not long I venture! All these young new sifters will all their tricks.....

Ok, I'm not serious at all, I just feel happy and wanted to run my mouth. Go Team Brandy, YAY!

LA Times: Obama and Clinton Beat McCain Because Of The Economy

In a turnaround, where McCain was slightly edging the Dem cadidates previously, either Dem candidate would beat McCain today in the new LA Times/Bloomberg poll.

LA Times:

"Although there is such infighting now between the two Democratic candidates, we are finding that both Democrats are beating McCain, and this could be attributed to the weakening of the economy," said Times Polling Director Susan Pinkus, who supervised the survey.

For example, among the 78% of voters who said they believe the economy has slid into a recession, 52% would vote for Obama, compared with 32% for McCain. A Clinton-McCain matchup showed nearly identical results.

The poll was based on telephone interviews with 2,208 adults nationwide -- 1,986 of them registered voters -- several days before and after Tuesday's primaries in Indiana and North Carolina, which Clinton and Obama split

We knew going in that McCain would be the most competitive of the GOP candidates, but that's not the same thing as winning the election. Fundamentals still matter, and the fundamentals will not be in the Republicans' favor this fall. Take a look at the graph.

McCain remains competitive because of his showing among older voters and independents -- constituencies both parties are vying to win. McCain leads Clinton among independents and is essentially tied with Obama.

Older voters and generational change will be a theme of the election, like it or not. So will independents, because no one wants to be a Republican. But as Chuck Todd astutely observed on primary day, NC looks more like the future than Pennsylvania. And when the question turns to policy, direction of the country, the economy, health care and Iraq, the senior senator from Arizona (R) is going to have his hands full convincing the country that his policies are not just more Bush, and that he can chart a path to the future that makes sense.

After all, the economy is not his strong suit, and he's a man of "the twentieth century, my century". McCain will win among voters who want to chart a path to the 20th Century... but if that's the case he makes, he'll lose the election.

This weekend I hooked up with some good friends and checked out a private screening of THE FOOT FIST WAY at the Archlight. It was just as funny this past Sunday as it was when I saw it in 2006! This is a must see that's coming out on the 31st of May!

Anyhow, it was great times. I got trashed and laughed my ass off. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay opened the screening with my friends Jody Hill, Danny McBride and Ben Best. We tried to get a picture of Ferrel and McKay, but missed the opportunity. Anyhow, we have tons of other great pictures...

I don't know Jonah Hill personally, but he obviously knows my friends who made The Foot Fist Way. Though, I'll tell you this much: he was super cool. I asked for him to look at me as if I was the biggest douche in the universe, yet he refused. Sure, it's largely due to his public image (how would it be if that picture ended up on the cover of People magazine!). Anyhow, like I said, I don't know him, and I took the picture with him because I thought he was super awesome in Superbad and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

I asked my friend Ben Best to pretend I was the largest douche in the world. His expression is priceless! But what's really hilarious is the guy in the back. We don't know who that is, but we think it's Will Ferrel's brother, Pat Ferrel. He decided to sneak into the photo. Awesome. Here again I asked my bud Danny McBride to pretend I'm the biggest douche in the world. This is his reaction. Hilarious. I'm hamming it up. He's currently shooting the Land of the Lost movie. He's been doing well for himself appearing in Hotrod, the Heartbreak Kid, All the Real Girls (that was for you Sarzy), Tropic Thunder, Drillbit Taylor, etc. Wow, he's doing well for himself!

And here's me passed out after the drunken madness with Del Taco wrappers covering my body... okay, okay, this picture is obviously fake, but I was well hammered after that night.
