There they are asked to comply with Israeli intelligence before treatment. Become a hated informer? Or refuse and wait to die?

With Gaza blockaded, only a fortunate few are able to get through Erez crossing, the only passenger crossing that remains between Gaza and Israel. "It took 6 months to secure a permit for my daughter", says Majed, whose daughter needs an urgent operation.

Even after securing a permit the struggle isnt over. Once in Israel, desperate and weak patients like 27 year old Khitam are often subjected to rigorous cross-examination. "When I finally went in I was interrogated for 2 hours", Khitam says, "they asked me about the resistance, gave me a pen and paper and asked for names".

Since the war, Israeli intelligence has used Palestinian informers to target militant leaders, especially those involved in Hamas. When Khitam told the intelligence that she didnt know anything, that she had spent the last 9 months lying in a hospital bed, they accused her of being involved in Hamas and sent her back to Gaza. "I will die, that's it. Theres nothing else I can do", she says frankly.
Roback and Sandoval were the creative center of the band, with Sandoval writing most of the lyrics and Roback composing most of the music.
He says "treating detainees harshly is actually a roadblock to getting intelligence" because it reinforces terrorist's distorted worldview.

Chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee Carl Levin attacks former Vice President Dick Cheney's remarks over detainee policies of the Bush administration.

He describes his committee's findings, arguing that not only is torture amoral, but also inefficient and counterproductive. - Foreign Policy Association

The price to pay is high, but it's too late to be a pessimist: humanity has barely ten years to reverse the trend, become aware of the full extent of its spoliation of the Earth's riches and change its patterns of consumption.

More than a movie, HOME will be a major event all over the globe : for the first time ever, a film will be released on the same day in over 50 countries and on every format : movie theatres, TV, DVD and Internet.

On June 5th we all have a date with the planet !

http://www.home-2009.com
http://www.ppr.com

(13 votes - 4 comments - 383 views)
The film depicts how modern food production companies employ technology to maximize efficiency, consumer safety and profit.

It consists mainly of actual working situations without voice-over narration or interviews as the director tries to let viewers form their own opinion on the subject. The names of the companies where the footage was filmed are purposely not shown.

The director's goal is to provide a realistic view on the internal workings of multiple food production companies in our modern society.

Different processes in agriculture and food processing plants are shown in the film. Since scenes are mixed, food transformations are listed below with no particular order.

* Semen to pigs
* Pigs to meat
* Semen to cows
* Cows to meat
* Cows to milk
* Eggs to chickens
* Chickens to eggs
* Chickens to meat
* Fish
* Crops and field harvests (misc)
* Tomatoes in rock wool
* Salads night harvest
* Peppers
* Cucumbers
* Apples
* Olives harvest
* Salt from mines

(14 votes - 0 comments - 402 views)
Amid battle scenes that have been described by one commander as the most
intense "since the Korean War," the BBC's Alastair Leithead, award-winning
cameraman Fred Scott and field producer Peter Emmerson spent nine days with
U.K. forces in a remote area of southern Afghanistan. There they found
themselves under the constant risk of ambush and attack.

This past fall, as the BBC team was embedded with the troops, the struggle
intensified between British troops and the forces of the Taliban. Around 5,800
U.K. troops are stationed in Afghanistan, following the U.S.-led invasion in
October 2001, and to date more than 40 have been killed. The majority of the
deployment is in Helmand, an area of major Taliban activity and opium
production.

The filmmakers gained unique, prolonged access to the soldiers of the Royal
Marines 3 Commando Brigade as they fought a shifting and elusive Taliban
threat. Every day, the fighting continues to destroy buildings and lives-
forcing people from their homes. Battlefield Afghanistan is a daring film that
takes viewers directly to the frontlines and questions whether the NATO forces
are losing the battle for the hearts and minds of the Afghan people.

(16 votes - 3 comments - 373 views)
This film provides a fly on the wall account of various checkpoints on the Palestine-Israel border. Miles from anywhere, people travel frequently, walking long distances, to go to hospitals or to work.

The Israeli guards like to 'show them' and routinely harass them by making them stand in the blazing sun, driving rain, or deep snow for many hours (eg up to ten hours) before returning their papers and often sending them home. They are polite, but admit to the cameras that this is how they deal with people - force them to stand in the rain.

It could almost be a laid back Palestinian expose of what is happening at the checkpoints except - and here is the double-whammy - it is made by an Israeli, with Israeli funding - and it has not only been snapped up and promoted by the Israelis in cinemas but also by the Palestinians. What is perhaps even more shocking is that it is now being used by the Israeli forces as training material for their guards. The filmmaker has certainly got his message across to a wide audience!
There is no chance this film will be making it to Blu Ray since the band believe that PULSE was their best live performance. However PULSE was shot for TV and not on film, making any HD restoration impossible.
