In August 2004, fighting broke out again between American troops of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, the 1st Cavalry Division's 1st Battalion, 5th US Cavalry Regiment and 2nd Battalion, 7th US Cavalry Regiment, 15th Forward Support Battalion and Al-Sadr's Mahdi Army. The battle, which was mostly centered around Wādī' as-Salām Cemetery and the southwestern portion of the city, lasted three weeks and ended when senior Iraqi cleric Grand Ayatollah Alī Al-Sīstānī negotiated an end to the fighting. The evening before Al-Sistani arrived in the city, two F-16's, flying out of Balad, dropped four two-thousand pound JDAMs (Joint Direct Attack Munitions) on two hotels in close proximity to the Imam Ali Shrine. The success of this airstrike dealt a devastating blow to the insurgents holed up in the second holiest shrine in the Islamic faith.

Former Marine; Corporal Chuck Ingraham tells his story from the Battle of Al Khafji during Operation Desert Storm, on January 29th - February 1st 1991. With real footage from the event.

Iraqi forces took the Saudi Arabian town of Al Khafji. The USMC 3rd Marine Regiment Reconnaissance was already present when the Iraqis came in.

Corporal Chuck Ingraham was leading one of the two squads hiding in the town.

The two teams reported on Iraqi activities inside the town and directed numerous effective artillery and airstrikes on the occupying Iraqis. After an intense day-long counter-attack, the city was retaken by Saudi and Qatari troops, coordinated by U.S. Special Forces liaison teams.

The Sabres of Paradise was an experimental group from the UK, active in the early 1990s, whose roots were in the acid house scene but later produced more dub-inspired work. Their albums Haunted Dancehall and Sabresonic II contained no vocals whatsoever. Andrew Weatherall formed the group and was joined by engineers Jagz Kooner and Gary Burns, and were responsible for the legendary Sabresonic warehouse raves. The group dissolved in 1995, but continued their music careers with Weatherall in Two Lone Swordsmen, and Kooner and Burns in The Aloof.
