Good stuff, when I used to subscribe to Newsweek it was always interesting to read Zakaria's articles. He had some very worldy views from a US perspective.

However CNNi is really not what it used to be, it pales in comparison to Al Jazeera's investigative journalism.

Actually, Sean Hannity literally dictated the William Ayres question to Stephanopoulos. Here's the audio:

May I suggest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbLfxvGPebg as an alternative to the current video being used in http://www.videosift.com/video/Hee-Haw-The-Next-Generation-1 ? It's much higher quality and the complete scene as well.

p.s. I like the Iggy Pop reference ;D

Thanks, yes I know. It indeed should give an idea of where the content on Videosift comes from. Mostly usa.
We already have 3 geographical channels, uk/canada/asia
While in my tag research
http://www.videosift.com/talk/Video-tag-cloud-a-quantitativequalitative-reseach
also french iraq japan japanese
were mentioned.
Then we have
-india +-73 posts
-china +-118
-brazil +-42
-australia(n) +-180
-new zealand +-38
-south africa +-22
-iran +-83
-korean +-53
-german +-180
Well, I could go on but I'm afraid the distribution could be quite similar to the map, but with more focus on uk/canada/japan (and france) because of their pop culture.

In reply to this comment by winkler1:
you know about the world map, right?

For those looking for world news try some of these
http://www.newspapers24.com/
http://www.worldpress.org/
http://www.worldpress.org/gateway.htm
http://www.ipsnews.net/

PS: Would be interesting to see the geographical distribution of Videosift posts..

You are welcome, it is one of my favourites!
I figured sooner or later it had to pop up on one of the less popular sites.
I hope it survives!

That's the problem. Too many people are easy persuaded by good TV, by flashy graphics, up tempo music and flowing quasi-American banners that read "Operation Iraqi Freedom". Followed by officials who speak of the threat to the American way of life. That is also a form of good TV, America's problems faced post 9/11 are encapsulated by a foreign state and a tactic of combat.

I think global warming is abstract but is easily convincing if its not presented in a skewed manner. Think of Al Gore's documentary, there is a vast proportion of criticism he left out settling mostly on citizens, he didn't speak of major heavy industries that produce most of the waste. Its a guilt trip seeming the average person has to augment his life in order to change Global warming, and not everyone from the top down not from the down and up.

Civil liberties can also be presented in a non abstract manner, but as long as they are presented as applying to foreigners and not to American citizens. The discussion is never "Should this be something America does?" but rather "What will terrorists do if we can't torture them?"

I believe its all a matter of presenting and framing the issues.

In reply to this comment by winkler1:
That video shows a clear individual who we can judge..it's good TV, not abstract. Katrina is visual and visceral..global warming and civil liberties are not: http://www.videosift.com/video/Frogs-in-Boiling-Water-the-Psychology-of-Global-Warming

In reply to this comment by Farhad2000:
People seemingly get more railed up about police abuses captured on video then the continuing judicial abuses committed by the Whitehouse. One affects a minority the other affects the majority. Kind of like whats going on right now in the Senate:
