actually, most of the countries listed there are monarchies, only a few are republics. Even Sweden itself, rated #1, is a monarchy. Being monarchy or republic is irrilevant to this scale, which is based on civil and political liberties, IIRC.

I didn't knew it reverted, but I know it's not the only western nation: think about France. Now it's a republic, but it changed at least three times.

Belgium's got a monarch, so it wouldn't qualify as a full democracy. It's actually the only Western nation to revert to monarchy after already having had democracy. One could say its citizens are freer than Americans, but that's not what the list is based on.

And I totally agree with you: this video is horrible. It would have taken twenty seconds to read the name of every country on the list, and I wouldn't have had to hear the awful music and sensationalist rhetoric.
