Story: So, the white and nerdy post inspired me to post an old bit of really bad white rap, where he is middle class and cuts the grass, much like Weird Al's opening. I found the version on break, searched here for middle class, average homeboy (the name of the video), that sort of thing, found nothing. Did my submission. It provided me a list of possible dupes, it wasn't there. Finished submission. The URL:

http://www.videosift.com/video/Average-Homeboy-2

Whoa, "-2"? So I pop in
http://www.videosift.com/video/Average-Homeboy

Sure enough, it has been submitted, though was discarded due to being a dupe (which isn't so well tagged or entitled). I discarded it.

Now it was not tragedy or anything (and I could have found it with an advanced search), but as a suggestion, listing discards in possible dups might help find this sort of thing if it occurs very often.

Well, ok, it might actually be with more then safari; I am lazy.

When you write a comment for a video, and click submit, there isn't much to tell you it happened. The text stays in the box, making you inclined to hit submit again. When you click away from the page, Safari issues you a warning that you are leaving a page with text left in a box (a good warning), which is kind of aggravating.

Safari 3.0.4, Leopard.

Seriously. I just had to get that off my chest.

Fate is having its little irony (http://www.videosift.com/talk/Its-dead-Jim) with me by having one of my only 2 published videos marked dead (and rightly so). I fixed it and read the FAQ on dead videos, which informed me that a gold star member could *undead the video. I proceeded to hassle a gold star member who kindly undead'd it for me, but let me know that I could undead it myself. Perhaps the FAQ needs changed? Or perhaps posters should get a clue and just try it themselves? I have been known to be excessively pedantic....

So, poking around the Sift, I semi-frequently come upon posts which have died for one reason or another. Now I am yet to obtain the god-like status require for a *dead, so I cannot contribute by doing so. I can understand not wanting n00bs like me to do it, but how about having a two level dead, where if someone like me flags it dead, it at least pops up on some list where someone with sift-god status can check it? At least some of us could contribute in other ways then.
