Yeah I train locally here in NJ with an Aikido club associated with the USAF, I try to make it to NY's dojo whenever I can and take Yamada's class. When I was in Florida I trained with Donovan and many other great USAF and ASU senseis. It's been about 4 years for me, I purposely haven't tested but I usually help out with teaching beginners and train alongside 1st kyus and sho/nidans. I'm very lucky to have a 6th Dan as my instructor locally though!

Do you train in any Japanese Traditional arts?

I train in ASU - Aikido in the DC area, I saw your vids and Bio and thought I would ask.

I'm glad you agree. The problem in many areas of martial arts is the incorrect assumption that sports and cultural phenomenon can be described as "superior" or even applicable in the real application of harm. I am really passionate about realism and not getting into a mindset that any one system is the true way. Bruce Lee was a great martial artist because he rejected tradition, and blended styles, thus creating greatness through acceptance and knowledge, not resistance and physicality.

I have tried to be very open minded in my learning processes when aproaching martial arts, and I often get a bit testy when confronted with dogmatic Martial arts thinking, and in so doing I can be a tad surly. I apologise for any misunderstandings, but I cannot be less than blunt in my opinions. That said, I think civil discourse is beneficial in molding perceptions, which leads to understanding and acceptance of that which works. Ultimately the goal is to avoid actual confrontation, with the true goal being confidence in ones ability to act when required.

HAHAH! You are right about that big guys in carpet armor! They told me that i couldnt do the it because the use Japanese 15century ERA weaponry was against the rules. I was niave at the time to think that doing the SCA would further my Martial Arts Experience. So I spent most of my time watching the guys with the real armor, and swords do agility drills.

Real weapons eh? I saw some idiots out side my Last apartment practicing Ninjutsu, were one had a live weapon, and the other had a Iaito. That was a clear show of ego, and I wish that I had it on video, it would have been on for the darwin awards, because the the one with the real sword cut the other guy.

Look up MASS, or MCBS those are interesting styles of blade fighting akin to Baji Quan, and the stick figthing in the Philipines.

SCA? how did that get interjected here! SCA has nothing to do with real weapons. The SCA is fat guys in carpet armor smacking each other with sticks, not a martial art. Downvote was for a long, boring video, in the wrong collective.

In reply to your comment:
Hey, I saw that you downvoted the Iaido video. Im not here to flame or anything. Just wanted to say that im not a person who beleives that the Katana is the master of all weapons. I just favor it because its what I have to practice with, and that was raised in Asian art styles. Its hard to find good videos on anything because the very best practitioners never ever boast.

The long sword cutting the tatami mat was cool. Yes the aura around the katana is enhanced by Narutards, and people that primp the martial way.

I did however spend some time in the SCA, learning to use Sword and Shield. I would definetly take that over any Katana for obvious reasons.

Hey, there's no way to associate it with the collective if you join after the date you posted it...but you're in now and I'll surely put it in my "hail hail rock and roll" playlist!

In reply to your comment:

I got an invitation to join the religion collective... but I was a Noob and didn't get back in time because hot mail flagged all video sites as Junk. It happened to me on the rock and roll collective too.

Nope, never heard of it. Possibly JTF-2 use it, but I wouldn't know. Considering the fact that we aren't swimming in money, I strongly doubt the brass are about to switch from the C7 to something else (although they are going for the C7A2 refit, which involves a shorter barrel, collapsible buttstock, laser sight, and some other fun stuff). M468 looks good though -- I'm sure it's a superior weapon.

In reply to your comment:
Hey i in regard to you video post, i was wondering if you knew of any units in Canada that use the M16/M4 model that has the Barret barrel system? I heard a big fuss about this weapon system and then it got hush hush really fast.

http://www.gb-tech.jp/images/New/m468-le_400x384.jpg this monster. It was big stuff, and then kersplat.

The tigger uses a arm lock on the kids elbow, most untrained people do not know how to do that, if the tigger had wrestling or something like that in highschool then his training stuck with him.

Now at first i thought that the tigger was locking the arm on purpose to strike the kid, his lock was pretty good.

But i look again and i see the kid seems to have a smirk, and the kids first hit the tigger aswell.

Score one for tigger superb use of the an arm elbow manipulation, and possibly blind left hook!
