You probably weren't here at the time it was announced - there's a new invocation that you're supposed to use on duplicate videos:
*dupeof=http://videosift.original-video-link.com
It *kills a duplicate video and transfers all votes to the original. Good thing is, it can still be used on discarded videos, so I took care of it myself
