I love cartoons as much as the next guy, but with all the comedy packed into each and every episode, there could be a whole website dedicated to it. Could we take another small vacation from showing short segments of cartoons (http://www.videosift.com/talk/Vacation-from-videos)? 140 videos alone on this site are related to The Simpsons, with most of them being just short 1 minute clips of an episode. I understand some may be classics (the goggles!) but 140?

Of all the sites I have signed up for in the past year, I have never received so much spam as I have from VideoSift. Currently I am at roughly 300 spam emails routed from VideoSift alone.




Am I going to have to remove my email from this site or will there be action done to prevent this?

My hard drive crashed a week ago and have been swamped with working on it so I havent been able to go to this site much, but I do check my emails. I have a single question: Why am I getting emails to my videosift email account about erections? Not to mention getting 10 of the same erection emails today...

Anyone else getting this problem? (the email one, not erection)

It seems that I have a parasite attached to me that constantly find my videos and desires to downvote them. This occurrance isnt happening in any of his other votes -- it seems that he is targetting me alone.



Whats the call for this DeathCow? Why does it seem you want to take away many of my hard earned votes? Did I offend you and this is your revenge?

The VideoSift FAQ states the following:


Negative voting is useful for when you find something that you really don't like. It's also helpful for us if you negative vote videos that don't belong here. This includes things that violate the posting guidelines (eg. self-links) and duplicate posts.




The question this leaves open is obvious: "At what point does a video deserve a downvote?" It seems that many users are divided on this subject.


Some believe that a down vote is purely as a rules state: a downvote should only be issued when a video is something deserving a discard or, more important to this debate, a video that is disliked by the voter.



Does this mean that the options of voting for a user should mostly consist of upvotes and downvotes, rather than upvotes and novotes? In one sense, we are all conditioned to either upvote or leave alone until we get our first star, at which point we have the ability to downvote. To many people this can be seen as something as a privilege, while others believe that it should become something commonplace and used often.



After presenting this, the question I leave to the community is, "What will the final consensus be on the topic of downvoting?" Should a downvote be reserved only for videos that are distasteful to VideoSift, or should a downvote be used whenever an upvote isn't?

Is there a blog post with simple ideas for this website? If not, perhaps this could be the culmination point. Every so often I have an idea that could help this site out and I'd rather make sure they are all in one thread instead of scattered everywhere. If anyone else wants to contribute that would be great.

Why is it that Blog posts appear under my Published video tab in my profile? Excuse my asking this but I couldn't find the answer in the FAQ.

Im getting very sick of YouTube for several reasons:

1. Fastforwarding is hardly useful as it often will not stick to where my cursor is pointing. If I skip through a video or try to rewind back to a specific point, it can get really difficult and Ill end up watching 30 seconds of something over again just to get to where I want to be. Did I describe that right?

2. It seems so go down too often, which makes this site almost moot as most posts are made with YouTube.

3. The loading times are horrible. I feel like its quicker to upload a file to YouTube than actually watch it.


And to end on a good note, Ill have to complement YouTube on its great job at providing easy access to the best videos on the internet (and thanks to videosift for making it even easier to find those best videos)
